What We Do

We are involved in lots of different activities to raise awareness of Sheffield Manor Lodge and the work being undertaken to care for the site, and we are also active fundraisers to support the costly restoration of the ruins and the establishment of Tudor style gardens and other works.

We work closely with the site managers, Green Estate, and a number of our members volunteer their time and considerable efforts to support events, school’s activities and other educational and interpretation programmes run on site.

The Friends group have built up a high class reputation for attracting the best historical speakers / writers in the country. Past speakers have included David Starkey (our patron), Alison Weir, Philippa Gregory, Mary S. Lovell, Kate Williams, Suzannah Lipscomb, Jonathan Foyle and many other top writers and speakers on all aspects of history. We are proud of this standing and will aim to provide the best available in our quarterly programme of speaker events.

If you become a member there will plenty of scope to become actively involved if you so wish. Alternatively, you can be a non-active member and take advantage of our high class speaker and tours programme or just sit back and watch the progress being made at the site as it continually evolves.
